Norman Spots in the fall\\winter
Message posted by Derekl 198.133.105.247
Spots are fun and on most days you can wear them out on small Crank baits. # 5 shad raps in natural shad or flukes worked down the sides of docks will get nailed. Small SQ lipped baits like a 1/4 oz speed trap or a bandit 100 worked around stumpy points and flats are also good.
Main thing is find the bait which on norman is usually small and scattered. Most of the bait in the lower lake in the winter seems to concentrate in creeks and pockets affected by hot water discharged from the nuke plant or the steam plant.
But North facing pockets will hold bait as well. Another factor is the wind on that lake. A sustained wind for a few days in one direction will push the plankton and bait to the opposite direction. Wind blown clay banks or rocky points are a good place to maybe pick up a big bite. : )
Known hot spots in the winter are Ramsey, Mccary and upper Davidson
This is ain\'t no super secret pattern, but it may help you find some fish on a tough day and have some fun with those knothead spots. Most of them run 2lbs and under, but they are fun to catch and on a 10lb line they pull like hell.
I think Rusty has a DVD out where he is on norman in the winter whackin em on a # 5 glass shad rap. Check it out2008-11-11 12:12:02 |
